FIRST MORNING ASSIGNMENT

Diligent children are very familiar with early morning domestic activities. These may include sweeping of surroundings, washing of plate and cooking of breakfast. Some times, parents share these activities among the children before the latter go to school. Diligence in promptly responding to the challenges of domestic work in the family contributes greatly to the training of successful boys and girls. Christian youths, however, should know that there are other morning assignments that take priority over domestic work.
The first major morning assignment is your quiet time. This refers to the time you commune with God before your mind is engaged with the activities of the day. It is supposed to be a quiet time when you are alone with God to pray, read and meditate on the word of God (Psalm 1:2) and finally spend time to pray on various issues of life. It is expedient for you to make it an habit to first speak to God every morning in prayer before you start to speak to man. The Psalmist affirmed, “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee”. Ensure you do your quiet time other morning activities. The second morning assignment is to participate in the family devotion. I believe you have the altar of the Lord in your family. It is a necessary time of fellowship where God brings blessings upon the household. Your joy of fellowship with God becomes full when you come together in family corporate prayer and spiritual discussions. God loves the families that erect altars in their home and He will always answer their prayers. You can start today and remain committed to the first morning assignment. God bless you.

Challenge: My first priority is for God to hear my voice early in the morning.

Prayer: Hear me, Oh Lord, and help me to commune with you every morning before any other business.
